Report: First Learner Submission (Assignment, Forum/Discussion, or Quiz)

Description:

Identifies users with learner role and active course enrollments who have submitted an assignment, forum/discussion post, or quiz within a selected time period. Users without a submission are not included. Often used for financial aid and Census reporting to track academic engagement. 

Roles that may benefit from this report:
Instructor: An instructor would use the First Learner Submission Report to identify which students have not yet submitted their assignments, forum/discussions, or quizzes, enabling targeted follow-ups and support.
Registrar: A registrar would use the report to track student participation and submission activity, ensuring compliance with enrollment and reporting requirements.
Academic Advisor: An academic advisor would monitor students' submission statuses to provide timely interventions and support for students at risk of falling behind.
Athletic Coach: An athletic coach would use the report to verify that student-athletes are meeting their academic submission requirements, helping maintain their eligibility to participate in sports.
Financial Aid: A financial aid officer would use the report to confirm student participation through submissions, which is essential for verifying eligibility and distribution of financial aid.

Header Data:

This data updates when filters are utilized.

Total Learners with Submission: Displays the total number of learners that have submitted as assignment, forum/discussion, or quiz in the course.

User’s First Name

User’s Last Name

User’s Primary Email Address as entered in the LMS. In IntelliBoard Pro, it displays as a clickable mailto link that automatically opens a new email in your default email client and prefills the “to” email address.

An arbitrary ID code number, perhaps from the institution

The name of the term, a set period of time often used to organize courses, as defined on the connected platform

Course name as it appears in the LMS system. It is a clickable link to the course page in the LMS. You must be logged in the LMS to have access.

Date for the scheduled start of the course

Displays the status of a learner’s enrollment: Active, Inactive, Deleted, or Completed

Instructor(s) for course

Date of First Submission of Assignment, Forum/Discussion, or Quiz in the course. Returns as “Never” if submission has not yet occurred.

The name of the activity as populated in the LMS. This is not attached to the URL for the activity in the LMS. It is useful when downloading a report as .csv or .xlsx file.

Name of the activity, such as “Assignment” or “Quiz”

Hidden Columns in Report: (Columns can be shown or hidden by sliding the corresponding toggle in the columns menu.)

Friendly name (or everyday name) for the course. This is not attached to the URL for the course in the LMS. It is useful when downloading a report as .csv or .xlsx file.

The unique value automatically created for each user by the connected LMS system

The unique value automatically created for each course by the connected LMS system

Report Filters:

Filters report to show results only within the Terms selected.

Filters report to show only users within an enrollment status or statuses. Ex. Selecting “Active” will only show inactive users who have actively enrolled.

Filters report to show only a specific course or courses. Ex. Selecting “Accounting” will only show information from the Accounting course.

Filters the report to show only results from within a specific range of days. Includes optional time setting.
